Demolition Day 2

I'm really behind (as we are 2 weeks into the process already), but I'm hoping I can catch you all up pretty quickly here.

After our first day of successful demo, our bodies hurt more than we imagined, but we were ready for day 2.  This day consisted of lost more demolition!  But first, we needed to clean up our mess from day 1.  Remember that whole "no wheelbarrow" thing...well, we brought it today!  My dad and I concentrated our morning on getting out the 4+ rooms of debris that we created.

Also, today we had a new guest demolition man...my brother-in-law Stephen (well, technically he is my sister-in-law's brother, but I just call him family :)).  I hesitate in calling him a "guest" demolition man though because he has been out at this project almost every day.  Not sure what I have done to be so lucky, but I'm so blessed to have him continually give his time - seriously, we could not have made all the progress we have without him!!  He has been an angel when it comes to this project - helping us not  only with labor, but with his great opinions and expertise, and I appreciate every bit of it.  I try to say thank you a lot to him, but it does seem enough.  So, thank you again Stephen!

With Stephen's help on day 2, while dad and I were tending to day 1's mess, Stephen was able to start tearing down drywall in other rooms.  After that, we also, demo'd the front kitchen.  It was fun to swing that sledge hammer!  Below are some photos from our day and a couple of videos.  Enjoy!

Front unit, living room, after we had spent a half day cleaning.

Front Unit, bedroom #1...all clean

Some gems we found during the day's demo...

Layers of paint...the bottom one is a minty green.

Have a hole in your wall?  Just fix it my stuffing in some paper and spackling/painting over.  Viola

A smaller hole?  just use some aluminum foil!

And, then we came to the part of the day where, it was time to destroy the front kitchen.  Yippee!!

Okay, so, I'm no genius with the sledge hammer, but it is fun! And I have gotten much better with the sledge hammer over the past two weeks, but unfortunately have no video proof!

Our dumpster is filling up!

Another room demolished.  Back unit bedroom #3 (looking into the front unit, Bedroom #2 and #1)

Front unit, kitchen is now gone!

Front unit almost all clear (just bathroom is left)

The back unit is still in progress of being demolished.  This is the kitchen/living area.

And lastly, here is a video my dad shot walking through the house, showing our day 2 progress.
