The Meridian house...the beginning

Hi there, welcome to my home.  My East Nashville duplex (formerly single family home) built in 1910.

What? You don't like boarded up windows?  Well, I do!

Actually, I don't really like boarded up windows, but I do love these, because they are my boarded up windows.  And what I love even more is the potential I see in the house.  Through those boards I see the potential to make something great, the potential to bring back a piece if history, the potential to help something return to its former glory and be fabulous again.

A lot of people think I'm crazy, and I probably am.  A lot people look at this house and don't get it, and that is okay.  A lot people shake their head at my chosen neighborhood, and I understand where they are coming from.  But here is the thing...I believe in it.  I believe in this house, and I believe in this neighborhood, and I believe I can make this beautiful again.

Bedroom #3  (behind kitchen)                            The Bathroom                              The hallway/utility area

I will have lots of bumps in the road, and I'm sure I will learn more than I can even imagine right now.  Some days I will also question why I'm doing this.  It is those days that I will force myself back to this first post to see where I started and remind myself of its potential.

This blog is also the place that you can follow the house's transformation and my journey.  Just a simple, hard-working girl wadding her way through a complete house remodel; something that I have NEVER done or attempted before.  I admittedly love Do-It-Yourself projects, but this is by far the biggest one I have ever tackled.  Luckily my fabulous dad who is handy and knows a ton, is helping me make sense of all this.  And yes we will be doing a lot of the work ourselves!  Don't worry, I bought a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher.

I hope you enjoy crazy renovation ride.
